ABC Classic's annual Classic 100 countdown will once again be celebrated with a concert of highlights performed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

2025 is the year of the piano, asking audiences "What's your favourite music for the piano?"

The concert brings together the music chosen by Australians, spanning the emotional range of the instrument, from reflective to explosive.

In a line up that will feature some of Australia's finest musicians, the first to be announced is pianist Andrea Lam.

Lam performed in the first Classic 100 in Concert in 2023, and in 2025 is one the of hosts of a new ABC series, The Piano.

The Classic 100 in Concert will take place at Melbourne's Hamer Hall on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 June, and will be filmed for ABC TV and ABC iview.

Australia's biggest classical music event, the Classic 100 has been running for over 20 years. Every year, music lovers nominate their favourite music according to the year's theme.

Voting for the Classic 100: Piano opens in May.

In 2025, the top 100 audience picks for Classic 100: Piano will be counted down live on ABC Classic and the ABC Listen app on the weekend of June 7-8.

The concert in partnership with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will feature highlights from the countdown, conducted by Benjamin Northey.

Announcing the Classic 100 in Concert at the orchestra's annual free outdoor series, Northey said, "I'd say most people have a connection to a piano somehow. Music lessons as kids, the honky tonk in your grandma's lounge room or an evening like tonight."

"Last year was so much fun. Hamer Hall was jam-packed, and millions of people joined us to watch and listen…And this year will be just as big!" shared ABC Classic presenter Megan Burslem, who hosted the 2024 Classic 100 in Concert with Jeremy Fernandez.

The full program and artist announcement will be available from mid-June. Tickets to the Classic 100 in Concert are on sale now.

Voting in the Classic 100: Piano opens on May 5. Subscribe to the ABC Classic Newsletter to be notified when voting opens.
