Former president of the NT Cattlemen's Association (NTCA) and a legend of the north's beef industry, David Warriner, has died aged 59.
In a statement from the Warriner family, they said David dedicated much of his life to Australia's northern beef industry and despite carrying an "incurable illness for several years, it did not halt David's love, passion and advocacy for the bush".
"His incisive mind, inimitable and irrepressible humour, courage, tenacity and stoicism leaves a profound legacy," they said.
ABC Rural spoke with David Connolly, another former NTCA president, who went to boarding school with Mr Warriner.
"David Warriner will be remembered as a cattleman and a horseman," he said.
"He was passionate about the bush and led the NTCA at a tough time.
"He managed big cattle stations and turned them around... and raised a fantastic family."
In March, Mr Warriner received a Life Membership to the NTCA, honouring his extraordinary contribution to industry on the national and world stage.
