Program: Queensland archaeologist sounds alarm on PNG kidnappings

Space to play or pause, M to mute, left and right arrows to seek, up and down arrows for volume.

In the early hours of Monday morning, a group of armed men in Papua New Guinea’s western provinces raided a local village taking eight men, women and school children hostage.

It’s a terrifying scenario Professor Bryce Barker is all too familiar with. He was kidnapped in PNG alongside three colleagues while on a research trip in 2023. Now, he is raising the alarm about the crisis unfolding in the country's remote provinces.

Guest: Professor Bryce Barker, Archaeologist with the University of Southern Queensland who was kidnapped in Papua New Guinea in 2023.
