AFL live: Bulldogs vs Bombers updates, Dockers and Cats record huge wins as Adam Selwood's tragic death leaves Magpies coach Craig McRae in tears

Collingwood coach Craig McRae has been brought to tears following the Magpies' 10-point win over Adelaide at the MCG.

The AFL world is in mourning after the tragic death of Adam Selwood, just months after his twin brother, Troy, died by suicide.

Scott Selwood, brother of Adam, and Geelong premiership captain Joel, is an assistant coach with the Magpies, whose players learned of Adam's death following their match on Saturday afternoon.

The Dockers and Cats both recorded big wins away from home, while the Bulldogs and Bombers meet at Docklands Stadium for the final match of the AFL's Saturday slate.

Dangerfield one of five hurt as Cats thrash Power

By Chris De Silva

Jeremy Cameron has booted seven goals as Geelong blitzed Port Adelaide by 70 points despite Brownlow medallist Patrick Dangerfield being among five players suffering serious injuries.

Dangerfield, teammate Jack Bowes and Port pair Jason Horne-Francis and Lachie Jones all limped off with hamstring ailments in the Cats' 17.13 (115) to 5.9 (39) triumph.

Power halfback Josh Sinn was also substituted due to a left hip injury in a Saturday afternoon of mayhem at Adelaide Oval.

All five players hurt were ruled out before halftime in a game broken by Geelong ace Cameron's seven-goal haul.

Cameron dominated as the Cats booted 11 goals to one in a scoring spree stretching from late in the second term to late in the last.

The Cats improved their win-loss record to six-four while leaving the Power at a wobbly four-six.

Cameron's scoring was complemented by two goals from Ollie Dempsey (24 disposals) and trump recruit Bailey Smith's impact continued with 30 possessions.

Gryan Miers (27 touches), Mark O'Connor (28) and Max Holmes (22) were also instrumental in Geelong's fifth-straight win at Adelaide Oval.

Port captain Connor Rozee was busy at halfback with a game-high 32 possessions and ex-skipper Ollie Wines (28 disposals) and Ryan Burton (26) battled against the tide.

But with tall forwards Mitch Georgiades (one goal) and Ollie Lord (none) held, only effervescent Sam Powell-Pepper (two goals, 23 disposals) provided an attacking spark.

Neither club scored for the initial dozen minutes of a first quarter marred by the spate of injuries.

Port's Sinn was helped off after being crunched by a Mark O'Connor knee in a second-minute marking contest.

His teammate Horne-Francis limped off 18 minutes later with a right hamstring injury and the Cats substituted Jack Bowes, also due to a right hamstring complaint, around the half-hour mark.

Geelong led by three points at quarter-time but Dangerfield was added to the carnage when removed with a right hamstring injury early in the second quarter.

And 23 minutes into the term, Port backman Jones became the fourth hamstring victim when hurt in a chase.

Jones had been manning Cameron and his absence coincided with two match-turning goals from the key Cat.

Cameron's second strike — a stunning long-range set shot from a boundary line — gave Geelong a nine-point buffer at halftime, 5.3 to 3.6 — the lowest scoring returns in a first half this season for both clubs.

The Cats then made a match-winning move with a superb third quarter, booting five goals to one for a 36-point break at three-quarter time.

Cameron stamped his authority with three consecutive goals in an eight-minute burst to open the last quarter as Port folded — the Power's match total of 39 points is their lowest score this year.

The Bombers and Bulldogs being put through their paces

By Chris De Silva

We've got one more match left tonight, and it's sure to be a cracker as the Bulldogs and Bombers meet at Docklands Stadium.

The first bounce for that one is set for 7.35pm AEST, so we're not too far away now.

Both teams going through their final preparations.

FT: Geelong 17.13 (115) defeat Yartapuulti 5.9 (39)

By Marnie Vinall

Jeremy Cameron kicked his sixth goal with 30 seconds to go and then his seventh as the siren sounded to make it a 76-point victory for Geelong.

That win will see the Cats knocking on the door of the top four, with a handy percentage boost to go with the four points.

Even more impressive was the team win after losing both Jack Bowes and Patrick Dangerfield to hamstring injuries early on.

Meanwhile, the alarm bells should be going off for Yartapuulti after their now sixth loss of the year.

You'd imagine Ken Hinkley will have a few stern words ready to go for his side after they were absolutely torched in front of a home crowd.

His side also lost two to hamstring injuries, Jason Horne-Francis and Lachie Jones.

FT: Walyalup (Fremantle) 13.17 (95) defeats GWS Giants 8.13 (61)

Walyalup records one of its best wins of the Justin Longmuir era!

The Dockers were impressive right from the jump today, you could tell they were up for it, and they've claimed a huge scalp here by downing the Giants on the road.

Adam Kingsley will be sorely disappointed by the Giants' effort today in what is their first home match in over a month.

All of Fremantle's big-name players came to play today, and this is why they're such a frustrating side to watch, because they're littered with stars all over the ground.

Shai Bolton with 24 disposals and three clearances to go along with three goals.

Caleb Serong with 36 disposals and eight clearances, Andrew Brayshaw with 30 disposals and three clearances, while Luke Jackson had 21 disposals, 32 hitouts and seven clearances in the ruck.

Greene strikes after winning his own 50m penalty

By Chris De Silva

Toby Greene smartly wins a 50m penalty after taking a contested mark on the wing, and goes back and slots his first goal of the match.

The Giants with the last two goals to trim this margin to 35 points, but it's purely cosmetic here.

Freo just three minutes away from a superb road win.

This is turning into quite the percentage boost for Geelong

By Marnie Vinall

Oh well, looks like the "must win" is turning into "don't concede goals"

While many had predicted Geelong to take the four points tonight, there were expectations (hopes?) for a much closer one than this.

It's turning into quite the blowout at Adelaide Oval as Geelong lead by 62 points.

In some respite for the Power, Mitch Georgiades has finally put through his first goal after three behinds from set shots.

Stengle joins the scoreboard party

By Marnie Vinall

Tyson Stengle has had a relatively quiet night - as often is the way with small forwards, sometimes it's their night, sometimes not - but now has a goal to go with his 10 disposals after getting a late one.

He went for another but the ball went too wide, racking up a behind. The Cats now up by 68 points.

Simpson strikes after Greene's semi-trip

By Chris De Silva

Loading Twitter content

Cooper Simpson wins a 50m penalty after being tripped up by Toby Greene, and he kicks his first goal of the day!

The Dockers are out to a 48-point lead now with just under eight minutes left.

Interesting replay this, as Greene definitely stuck his right leg out to catch Simpson as he passed through after taking the intercept mark.

I wonder whether the MRO will take a closer look at that. I could see Greene being handed a fine for that, given his rap sheet.

The Giants skipper has had a dirty old day today. He's had just 12 touches and two clearances and doesn't have a goal.

No late changes for either Bulldogs or Bombers

By Chris De Silva

The final teams are in for tonight's match between the Bulldogs and Bombers at Docklands Stadium.

Dylan Shiel will begin as the Bombers sub, as he did last week, while Lachie Bramble is the Bulldogs sub.

Here's a look at the two team line-ups.

Neale joins the scoreboard

By Marnie Vinall

Cats are now up to nine different goal scorers after Shannon Neale put through his first of the night.

Of course, that list is being headlined by Jeremy Cameron, up to five goals, followed by Ollie Dempsey on two.

Geelong are just eating out now on Adelaide Oval as they take a 61-point margin into the final five minutes of the game.

Dempsey on fire

By Marnie Vinall

Last year's Rising Star Ollie Dempsey has been fantastic tonight. He's up to 22 touches, two goals and nine score involvements.

Geelong really did find a diamond after taking Dempsey with pick 15 in the 2022 rookie draft.

Rach asks a fair question.

Banfield and Brown exchange excellent snaps

By Chris De Silva

A couple of excellent goals at either end here in the final quarter!

Callum Brown kicks the Giants' first goal in the second half with a lovely running snap on the right boot.

Just seconds later, Bailey Banfield mirrors him for Fremantle, slotting his own snap on the left foot at the other end of the ground.

The Dockers have no intentions of letting this lead slip. They've been mighty impressive today.

Power are getting pumped

By Marnie Vinall

And just like that, Jeremy Cameron makes it five.

Now 10 of the last 11 goals have come of the boot of a Geelong player.

It's becoming a worrying scoreline for Yartapuulti, who have kicked just the four goals (none this quarter) today. They are now trailing by 54 points.

Tributes continue to come in for Adam Selwood

By Chris De Silva

My heart aches for the Selwood family. May Adam rest in peace x

Having lost my twin nearly 8 yrs ago I know the ache in my heart never goes away. Loved her more than I can possibly explain

Cameron makes it four

By Marnie Vinall

You don't want to be in opposition colours when Jeremy Cameron is firing - and oh, is he firing tonight.

He's now started the fourth quarter with back-to-back goals, both set shots.

Cats fans might have worried when Patrick Dangerfield went down with a hamstring injury earlier on, but Cameron has stepped up. He's on four.

Bolton's classy finish continues Dockers dominance

By Chris De Silva

Yeah, I reckon this is game now folks.

Shai Bolton oozing class in the forward line.

He crumbs a marking contest perfectly and then shows tons of composure by faking out his opponent before snapping truly.

Bolton's got three goals and 21 disposals now and Walyalup's lead is out to 47 points now.

Callaghan back on the ground after shoulder injury

By Chris De Silva

Good news for the Giants as Finn Callaghan comes back onto the ground.

Callaghan's got his right shoulder strapped now. His left shoulder was taped up coming into the match.

He's looking like a prime Chris Judd with all that tape on.

Cameron adds to haul to open final quarter

By Marnie Vinall

Brad Close found Jeremy Cameron on the lead inside 50 to open the final term.

As he does so well, Cameron then kicked it straight through the middle sticks and up into the crowd.

Geelong have now kicked eight of the last nine goals.
